One of the teaching strategies I learned at the institute is a cup cpncepts game. To play you should have groups of 4-5 students. Each group receives a cup stacking tool and a some cups that have been prelabeled with relevant concepts. The concept map below represents the group of cups that we received. Together the students, while not talking or touching the cups, have to stack a tower of cups representing the relationship between the concepts or vocabulary words.

I really enjoyed learning this strategy as it emphasizes teamwork and the relationship between the concepts learned. It is important to me to have the students understand the relevance, relationship and application of the information as oppossed to just learning vocabulary.
