Field Trip: Flight Museum
The Frontiers of Flight Museum at Love Field is a great place to have students explore and learn about the short and prolific history of aeronatics, especially as it applies to our local history here in Dallas.

Our tour guide emphasized the short amount of time that big changes took place from Charles Lindberg's flight to our current space program. I found the museum invaluable for a first hand look at the history of flight, the many ways it could apply to teaching STEM, and possible implications for our future.

While there are several ways that I could apply this information to my students, I believe the best way is to use the 6th grade TEKS. [Earth and Space: 11C] Describe the history and future of space exploration, including types of equipment for space travel.

For a lesson, I will propose a problem for students, "How does the history and equipment of aeronatics affect the way we think about space travel"? This will provide research and investigation opportunities where students can use the museum to describe, document, identify and evalute the history of space travel. An end result might be a planned presentation to the community.
