Workshop: Our Dynamic Earth

Museum Connections:
Perot Classroom Program
Dr. Christopher Strganac

This session was about air and weather. We discussed air expanding and contracting as well as the affect of these changes on our planet.

Classroom Connections: Weather and Climate

This class demonstration shows the difference between how the air moves in a warm front and a cold front. It uses a bag of gravel and ice to produce the cold front. The warm front is indicated by the color red and the cold front by the color blue.

STEM Connections:
Arlington Archosaur Dig Site
Tommy Diamond

Mr. Diamond is the director of the Arlington Archosaur dig site with the Perot Museum. He gave us real-life local examples of fossils. We also discussed how and when fossils can be formed.

Classroom Connections: Breakout Groups

During our breakout groups we learned innovative ways to teach weather/erosion, mineral identification with dichotomous keys, as well as Pangea and evidence of continental drift.
